Brains & Brawn: Gators Shine in the Classroom

The Gators win on the field. They're also winning in the classroom, and the numbers from the 2025-26 academic year back that up.

390 on the SEC Academic Honor Roll

Florida placed 390 student-athletes on 2025-26 SEC Academic Honor Rolls: 142 on the fall list, 54 winter, 95 spring, and 99 on the First-Year Honor Roll. That's the fourth-highest total in school history, and all of the top four have come since 2022-23. To make the list, a student-athlete needs at least a 3.00 GPA, among other requirements. Champions who study, too

• Men's basketball: Six players from the SEC champion team made the Winter Honor Roll: Rueben Chinyelu (Sociology), Alex Condon (Sport Management), Thomas Haugh (Natural Resource Conservation), Cooper Josefsberg (Sport Management), Urban Klavzar (Sport Management) and Olivier Rioux (Criminology). • Gymnastics: The 2026 SEC champions put 13 gymnasts on the Winter Honor Roll, including Kayla DiCello, Skye Blakely and Riley McCusker. It's the sixth time in seven seasons that every eligible Gator gymnast made the list. Source
• Women's track & field: The squad that won the SEC Triple Crown (cross country, indoor and outdoor titles) placed 11 on the Spring Honor Roll, and the men added 14. Source
• Lacrosse: The Big 12 champions had 24 honorees. Baseball had 16, and the Super Regional softball team had 9.
• Swimming & diving: 18 women and 15 men made the Winter Honor Roll.

Graduating at a high rate

In the NCAA's latest Graduation Success Rate report (released November 2025), 93% of Gator student-athletes completed their degrees, above the Division I average of 90%. Eight UF teams posted a perfect 100: men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, gymnastics, softball, men's tennis and volleyball. Football came in at 85, above the FBS average of 83. The combined GPA for all Gator student-athletes in 2024-25 was an all-time high of 3.405. Source
