Kamsi Awaka shows out at USA Basketball minicamp

Florida's newest basketball commit is already drawing praise. 247Sports national analyst Eric Bossi, closing out the outlet's USA Basketball Fall Minicamp coverage with a notebook on the big men in camp, wrote on X Friday: "Recent #Florida commit Kamsi Awaka was a beast and one of many who impressed."

Who he is

Awaka is a 6-foot-10, 250-pound center in the 2027 class at Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J. He previously played at Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, Conn. He's a four-star prospect; Rivals ranks him No. 31 nationally and the No. 6 center. He is the younger brother of former college big man Tobe Awaka.

On the adidas 3SSB circuit this summer with New Heights, he averaged 13.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game, according to On3.

The commitment

Awaka committed to Florida in early October, choosing the Gators over Arizona, Michigan, Michigan State and UConn after an official visit to Gainesville on Sept. 14. He called Florida his dream school and told Rivals: "I'm ready to get them another Chip!!!"

He is Florida's second commit in the 2027 class, joining Ian Condon, and gives Todd Golden another frontcourt piece for the future.
