Philo Throws at Practice, Likely Game-Time Call vs. Texas
On3's Pete Nakos reports Aaron Philo threw Thursday and is likely a game-time decision at No. 7 Texas. Tramell Jones Jr. starts if Philo can't go.

Florida quarterback Aaron Philo threw at practice Thursday and is likely to be a game-time decision Saturday at No. 7 Texas, On3's Pete Nakos reported around 3:10 p.m. ET, citing sources. Philo is working through a shoulder injury. If he cannot go against the Longhorns, Tramell Jones Jr. will start. (Nakos on X)

The update softens an earlier Thursday report from 247Sports' Zach Goodall that Florida was preparing Jones for his first career start while Philo practiced only on a limited basis. GatorStandard covered that report here.

What we know
Philo remains listed as questionable on the SEC availability report after hurting his shoulder late in the South Carolina loss. Nothing from Florida or Jon Sumrall has made either quarterback's status official for kickoff. Nakos' sourcing says Philo threw Thursday and that the call is expected to come Saturday — not earlier in the week.
Jones has entered in relief of Philo four times this season and would be making the first start of his college career if Philo sits. Kickoff is set for noon ET Saturday in Austin on ABC.
GatorStandard will update when Florida or the SEC availability report settles the quarterback situation.
