Florida's defense is keeping the Gators in it at No. 7 Texas. Ty Jackson's fourth-and-1 stop in the second quarter set up Florida's only touchdown, and the Gators trail just 17-10 in Austin.

As of 2:13 PM ET (6:55 - 3rd), Texas leads 17-10. Follow along on our live play-by-play and the Game Day hub.

Jackson's stop

Texas went for it on fourth-and-1 near midfield late in the second quarter, and linebacker Ty Jackson stuffed Hollywood Smothers for a turnover on downs. Florida took over with 2:45 left in the half (@GatorsFB). Zach Abolverdi of Gators Online wrote that Jackson "makes another big play." ESPN's game data also credits Jackson with a shared sack of Arch Manning on that drive.

Earlier on the same drive, safety Bryce Thornton nearly intercepted Manning. Teammate Ben Hanks III hit Thornton in midair, and the ball fell incomplete, per Charlie Jones, a student broadcaster with the Gators Sports Network on WRUF (post). Florida then went 49 yards and scored on Tramell Jones Jr.'s 7-yard touchdown pass to Lacota Dippre with 18 seconds left in the half. (More: Tramell Jones Jr. Hits Lacota Dippre for TD.)

Earlier stops

The defense had already made Texas pay for little. Emmanuel Oyebadejo's third-down tackle for loss in the first quarter held the Longhorns to a 38-yard field goal. Jaden Robinson's hit on Manning's arm on third-and-4 forced Texas' first punt. Texas' only other touchdown came on Ryan Niblett's 63-yard punt return.

By the numbers

At halftime, Texas led 176-143 in total yards. Jones was 10 of 17 for 71 yards and a touchdown, and Jadan Baugh had 34 yards on 12 carries. For Texas, Manning was 8 of 12 for 68 yards and Smothers had 53 yards on 10 carries (Abolverdi).

Third quarter so far

From ESPN's game data: Florida took the second-half kickoff and, as of 6:55 - 3rd, has driven 14 plays, 56 yards over 7:22 to the Texas 8. Florida went 4-for-4 on third down on the drive, converting twice to Bailey Stockton, once to Dallas Wilson and once to Micah Mays Jr.

Florida lost receiver Bailey Stockton during that drive. Stockton went down right after catching a bubble screen with 10:56 left in the third quarter, per Pete Nakos. Charlie Jones of WRUF reported that Stockton grabbed the back of his leg and walked off the field on his own. Scott Carter said Stockton looked frustrated trying to warm up on the sideline. Florida has not announced whether he will return. Carter also noted that the Gators were 4-for-4 on third down after the latest conversion, to Micah Mays.
